Increased Access to Holistic Education

In the community of Maker Kuei in Rumbek, South Sudan, access to education is limited by many factors, most notably poverty, conflict, and cultural practices. Despite these challenges, Loreto Primary School endeavours to attract and encourage school-age pupils to attend school. However, the majority of pupils are barely able to pay the low school fees and access to education is only possible because sponsors support us in running the school. This year we have enrolled 1,213 pupils, 45% of whom are girls.

With 400 € you enable a child to go to school for one year.

Costs of tuition: Students receive a comprehensive and high-quality education. Qualified teachers teach the curriculum in a child-centred and safe learning environment. A contribution of €200 covers the cost of tuition, including learning materials, school infrastructure, and qualified teachers for one child.

Daily access to healthcare: Students have free and full access to Mary Ward Primary Healthcare Centre, located within the Loreto compound. The facility can handle emergencies as well as common illnesses. A professional resident counsellor provides counselling support and trauma healing. It costs €100 to provide a student unlimited medical care throughout the year.

Access to school meals: Daily school meals form an important component of children’s sustained nutritional well-being, particularly during periods of drought and food scarcity in the community. For €100, a pupil receives daily nutritious meals during the school year.
All sponsors who provide scholarships receive a report from the school at the end of each semester, in which we provide a brief insight into everyday school life. This lets you see the difference your donation makes for these children.
